“Adoption” means the process
through which the adopted child is permanently separated from his biological
parents and becomes the legitimate child of his adoptive parents with all the
rights, privileges and responsibilities that are attached to the relationship.
Adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children in India is governed by
a set of guidelines notified by Government of India.
The Adoption Group’s aim, like all other institutions
within the MSWC is to work tirelessly against the permanent
institutionalisation of young people. To that end, the Adoption Group screens
and selects potential parents from accredited agencies and tries to ensure that
children who are brought to Asha Sadan find loving homes as soon as is

MSWC works in line with CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority) guidelines towards
its goal of facilitating adoption and ensuring that a maximum number of
children find secure homes in India and abroad.

The Adoption Group also holds
an Annual Adoption Meet each year – a festival that is attended by children who
have been adopted and their parents. A fiesta with music and dance, the Meet
celebrates adopted children’s return to their first home and is an event that
Asha Sadan and the children look forward to.
Over 1800 children have been
placed by the Adoption Group till date over the last few decades
